Linking crop resilience and biodiversity

This policy session is the result of the synergy of Root2Res and BarleyMicroBreed, two Horizon Europe projects funded under the same Cluster 6 Biodiversity call, and their novel understanding of the biodiversity link between resilient crops and soil health.

For almost two years, and aided by a network of practitioners across Europe and Africa, these initiatives actively consulted with research partners and sector associations and look at ways to support the breeding of resource-efficient crops. Covering three key areas of agricultural Research & Development policy, the recommendations will be presented during a dedicated session in the European Parliament on October 12. 

To complement the big picture, the event will offer insights on the European Parliament ongoing discussions and proposals supporting plant research, as well as a keynote presentation on the New Strategic Approach to Research and Innovation from the European Commission.

As a closure, contributors and guests to the Parliamentary Session will join the complimentary light lunch afterward, providing an opportunity for sector associations, practitioners and academia representatives to continue and expand the conversation.
